Priscilla Warner, Author of Learning to Breathewas interviewed by Ann Curry on NBC's Today Show, and talked about her book and her year-long journey to overcome anxiety. The subject of trauma came up, and she shared that she used EMDR and "another wonderful, exciting therapy called Somatic Experiencing."
So, we are excited by this very public mention, and present it to you here.
Thanks to The Meadows Addiction Treatment Center, Dr. Levine will be doing two events on the Eastern Seaboard this September, based on his best-selling book - In an Unspoken Voice, How the Body Releases Trauma and Restores Goodness. He will be joined in Boston by trauma pioneer, Bessel van der Kolk, M.D.
These presentations, designed for therapists, but approachable by all, will be a whirlwind tour, starting at the very beginnings of the animal world, through human development and our developing nervous system, onto the ethological connections to trauma. Several case studies and video examples will be shown in this dynamic and exciting events - one of my favorites.
Bessel van der Kolk is a premiere researcher on trauma, author of the seminal book Traumatic Stress
Our good friend Ale Duarte, who's truly inspirational work leading trauma disaster teams after the Thailand Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, Sichuan Province, and now in Japan, was recognized and profiled by Japanese News Service NHK (Permalink).
Ale is a gifted SE practitioner, and one of the most amazing people ever. Please watch.
