SE™ Master Short: Covid, Post ICU, and Ventilator Trauma

With the rapid spread of Covid-19, millions of people who became ill and recovered experienced a range of debilitating after-effects. While the causes of some of these lingering symptoms remain unclear, Dr. Levine believes that specific SE™ tools can be useful in providing relief and aiding in recovery. With this pressing need in mind, he offers a SE™ Master Short emphasizing skills recommended for work with Covid-19 “Long-haulers.” In addition to aiding the repercussions of serious Covid-19 cases, this course will teach ways to help people cope with the ongoing stress of an invisible threat, social isolation, grief, loss of life, or loss of their livelihood. This course is intended to help post-Covid 19 clients, their supporting caregivers, and medical trauma and syndrome sufferers in general. During this unprecedented time, our SE perspective is needed now more than ever.

This 4.5-hr long intensive includes didactic lectures with SE exercises, a recorded demo session, and a Case Consultation with a Client Demonstration. We hope that this timely class will better equip you to help your clients, loved ones, and the community.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

·      Define the physiology and basis of functional syndromes

·      Identify partial awakening under anesthesia and surgical trauma symptoms amongst their clients

·      Describe the functional nature of Covid-19 symptoms to their clients

·      Summarize the somatic after-effects of sedation to their clients

·      Apply perceptual skills and practical tools for working with post-Covid-19 clients

·      Practice exercises to work with an invisible threat like Covid-19
