Regulation, Resilience, and Menopause

If you’ve been waking up in the middle of the night with your mind spinning, looking in the mirror and wondering where your vibrant energy went, or feeling like your body has suddenly rewritten its own rulebook—I want you to take a deep breath.

You’re not losing your mind, you’re not failing, and you’re absolutely not alone.

The physical and emotional shifts of perimenopause and menopause can feel incredibly isolating. Too often, women are dismissed by conventional medicine and told to just "grin and bear it" or accept the fatigue, brain fog, sudden anxiety, and hot flashes as an inevitable part of aging.

But your body isn't breaking down; it is going through a massive hormonal and neurological recalibration. And you do not have to just "live with it."

There are root-cause, body-intelligent solutions available to help you reclaim your comfort, your sleep, and your personal power. That’s why I’m so passionate about inviting you to a brand-new, completely FREE online series from AVAIYA University:

The Perimenopause & Menopause Resilience Series

This masterclass series is hosted by iKE ALLEN & Ande Anderson, the Co-Founders of AVAIYA University, who have spent years creating deeply impactful, transformational events.

They’re bringing together 20 world-renowned women's health experts, somatic practitioners, and hormone specialists to share proven protocols for navigating midlife with ease. We're diving deep into nervous system regulation, targeted nutrition, pelvic floor health, and reclaiming your vitality.

Our Faculty member, Mahshid Hager, is deeply honored to be one of the featured speakers! She’ll be sharing her Somatic Experiencing perspective on Regulation, Resilience, and Menopause.

Once you register, keep an eye on your inbox for specific details from AVAIYA on how to access the daily classes. If you're busy, don't worry—replays are completely free for 24 hours after each session airs.

It's time to stop trying to just "survive" this transition. Your second spring is meant to be a time of deep wisdom, resilience, and personal power. Let’s reclaim it together.

To your health & happiness,

P.S. We’re stronger when we heal in community. If you have friends, family members, or colleagues who are currently struggling their way through midlife, please forward this email to them. Let's make sure no woman has to navigate this transition in the dark.

For a limited time, the program is $157 — down from $397. That's $240 off.

What does somatic trauma work look like in practice? Not in theory — but in a real session, with a real client, in real time?

Join us for 4 complete demonstration sessions with Dr. Peter Levine, Staci K. Haines, Dr. Pat Ogden, and Jessica Montgomery — some of the most respected names in the field — working live with clients through trauma, protective patterns, interrupted defensive responses, and suppressed emotion.

You'll watch how they establish safety, track bodily sensation moment to moment, complete what the body never got to finish, and guide clients from contraction to aliveness. These aren't lectures or slide decks. This is the art of somatic healing, on full display.

The package is eligible for 5 CE hours and covers Somatic Experiencing®, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and body-centered approaches to boundaries, dissociation, and authentic emotional expression.

If you've ever wanted to sit in the room with master clinicians and see exactly how they do it, we have prepared that experience for you.

Eligible for 5 CE hours.

Right now it's $157 — $240 off the regular price of $397

Sale ends September 13th.

PESI and Psychotherapy Networker Presents: Innovations in Psychotherapy w/ Dr Levine + more ($50 off)

Dr Levine is honored to be receiving the Innovations in Psychotherapy Award and presenting at the 2026 Innovations in Psychotherapy Conference in Anaheim, California.

Hosted by PESI and Psychotherapy Networker, this growing gathering brings together leading clinicians, researchers, and innovators exploring the future of trauma treatment and psychotherapy. Attendees can join both in person and online.

In addition to a keynote conversation reflecting on a lifetime of work in trauma healing, I'll also be leading a special experiential workshop exploring how the body can become a pathway to healing, resilience, and transformation.

For over five decades, I have been fascinated by a simple question: What allows human beings not only to survive overwhelming experiences, but to reclaim vitality, meaning, and connection? I look forward to sharing some of what I have learned along the way.

I hope you'll join us.

Why The Living Thread?

Most of us can recognize the moments in life that changed us.

What can be harder to recognize are the threads that quietly shape us.

The ways we protect ourselves without realizing it. The stories we inherit. The expectations we carry. The patterns that influence how we relate to ourselves, to others, and to the world around us.

Some of these threads are woven through our own lived experience. Others emerge through family, culture, community, and the survival strategies passed from one generation to the next.

Yet what is passed forward is not only hardship.

Alongside survival live resilience, creativity, courage, wisdom, love, and an enduring capacity for healing.

Inspired by the work of Peter Levine and SE Faculty member, Euphrasia (Efu) Nyaki, this retreat invites us to become curious about the living threads that connect us—to our bodies, our relationships, our ancestors, our communities, and something larger than ourselves.

Together, we'll explore how greater embodied awareness can help us recognize inherited patterns that no longer serve us while strengthening the resources that support a fuller, more connected life.

Rather than becoming someone new, this work is an invitation to remember and reclaim more of who we have always been.

We chose The Living Thread because it speaks not only to what is carried across generations, but also to what continues to grow, adapt, and heal within each of us.

Carrying the Thread Forward

This retreat began as a shared vision between Peter Levine, Euphrasia (Efu) Nyaki, and the Ergos team. Together, they imagined an experience that brought Somatic Experiencing® into conversation with intergenerational healing, spirituality, community, and the wisdom that can emerge when we gather with openness and curiosity.

Following Efu's unexpected passing, we took time to consider whether this program should continue. Rather than setting the vision aside, we chose to carry it forward—honoring the conversations, ideas, and values that inspired its creation while allowing it to evolve into something new.

Throughout the week, you'll find threads of Efu's heart woven into the retreat through opportunities to explore ancestry, active imagination, embodied practice, movement, dance, ritual, reflection, and our connection to something larger than ourselves. These experiences are offered with openness and respect, inviting each participant to engage in ways that are personally meaningful, calling upon support from our practitioner team as needed.

We look forward to gathering at Humphreys Half Moon Inn in San Diego to continue this work together and to honor Efu's legacy by creating a welcoming environment where learning, embodiment, community, and spiritual exploration can unfold side by side.

Some ancestral influences have had negative (even traumatic) effects on us, while others may be life-supporting and life-affirming. We must work together to allow what is holding us back to move through so that what sustains us can move forward.
— Dr Levine

Throughout the Week

We'll develop body-based healing skills that invite both professional growth and personal reflection. Some may deepen your clinical understanding. Others may invite new questions about your own life. Together, they create a retreat-like experience designed to support learning, curiosity, and embodied exploration.

We aim to engage the whole person—not just the thinking mind.

Together We'll Explore

  • Body awareness, nervous system regulation, and embodied resilience

  • Belonging, identity, and relational safety

  • Creativity, curiosity, and play as resources for healing

  • Deepening our relationship with known and unknown ancestors through active imagination

  • Intergenerational trauma and inherited survival patterns

  • Embodied practices that explore energetic connection and cultivate ancestral resources

  • Ritual, reflection, and a spiritual connection

  • Grief, joy, and post-traumatic growth

  • Community, connection, and co-regulation

  • How we show up for ourselves and others

  • Building greater capacity rather than striving for perfection

*This program is designed for those aware of their biological lineage and for those who are not.
SE is not what you do but how you do what you do. The magic of the work is that SE principles can apply to all types of healing practices.
— Dr Levine

During Our Time

We'll move between large-group learning, experiential practice, body-based exploration, small-group dialogue and processing, creativity, reflection, and time for integration. Some sessions invite quiet observation, while others encourage active participation. Some deepen professional understanding, while others create space to become more aware of your own embodied experience.

Together, we will create an environment that allows learning to unfold gradually—giving both your mind and nervous system time to absorb, reflect, and integrate. Recognizing that participants thrive with different rhythms, we'll work to balance meaningful learning experiences with opportunities to rest, connect, and simply be.

Throughout the week, you can expect:

  • Didactic teaching

  • Live demonstrations with discussion

  • Bodywork & somatic healing practices

  • Guided movement sessions

  • Active imagination and guided reflection

What May Begin to Shift

Meet The Living Thread Team

The Living Thread is guided by an interdisciplinary team of experienced educators, clinicians, and bodyworkers who share a deep commitment to Somatic Experiencing®, embodied learning, and trauma-informed healing. Each member of the team has supported Dr. Levine through his Ergos SE™ Master Classes, Retreats, and experiential workshops, bringing a shared familiarity with the depth, pacing, and clinical sensitivity of his work.

Together, they bring decades of professional experience supporting individuals, professionals, and communities through developmental and attachment trauma, intergenerational healing, therapeutic touch, expressive arts, movement, and cross-cultural approaches to well-being. While each member contributes a distinct perspective and area of expertise, they share a common intention: creating a thoughtful, welcoming, and well-supported environment where learning can unfold with curiosity, depth, and care.

Throughout the week, you’ll experience the richness of learning from multiple voices as the team guides large-group teaching, live demonstrations, body-based explorations, experiential practices, and small-group learning, including Spanish & Japanese language breakout groups. The teams ongoing presence—both inside and outside the classroom—offers opportunities for meaningful connection, individualized support, and conversations that continue beyond each session.

The Retreat begins the afternoon of February 1st and ends the afternoon of the 7th.

Dr Levine will join us for some time together on February 6th & 7th.

*Retreat team members are subject to change.

The Learning Experience

Attending the Sedona Retreat (hosted by Ergos) was a pivotal and life changing experience for me. It was here that I experienced a significant gear shift and paradigm change in my healing journey. The teaching and experiential work at the retreat enabled me to become aware of how and where trauma sits in my own body, its effect on my nervous system and the subsequent ways I unconsciously have related to myself, to others and to Life and the world. The depth of trust and friendships that formed with other participants as well as the team was both surprising and moving, especially in how that informed my personal healing process, opening me up to new possibilities and ways of relating I had not felt were possible for me before. This experience led me to continue my personal healing journey through SE and also to dive into the full SE professional training so that I could bring SE into my therapeutic work with clients, which has also been transformational.

Shelter Island, San Diego, California

The Venue

The retreat will be held at the beautifully renovated Humphreys Half Moon Inn, nestled along the marina on San Diego’s Shelter Island. We chose this location intentionally. Its relaxed waterfront setting offers a welcome change of pace, with space to step outside between sessions, breathe in the ocean air, walk along the marina or the shore, or continue meaningful conversations over a meal.

Waterfront restaurants, cafés, and shops are within easy walking distance, where breakfasts and one evening will be left open for participants to explore the area together for meals in smaller groups.

Located just minutes from San Diego International Airport, the Inn is easily reached by taxi, rideshare, or shuttle. No car is needed for this program.

Why Humphreys?

Over the years, we’ve learned that where we gather matters. Humphreys Half Moon Inn has been a longtime home for many of our programs. We return year after year for our workshops because this family-owned venue offers not only a beautiful waterfront setting, but also a sense of familiarity, warmth, and care that has made it feel like an extension of our community.

Accommodations Designed for Rest and Connection

Your retreat registration includes six nights at Humphreys Half Moon Inn, allowing everyone to stay onsite throughout the experience.

Participants registering individually will have a single occupancy private room with one king bed. Couples may share a king room, while friends or family members attending together may request a room with two queen beds. Suite upgrades may be available.

Due to our agreement with the Inn, retreat tuition is per person, not per room.

Additional nights before or after the retreat may be available for those who would like to extend their stay in San Diego. If you check that option in registration, we will contact you to arrange the details.

All upgrades and extensions are subject to hotel availability and will be invoiced separately through Ergos.

You can book spa services directly with Humphreys.

Continuing Efu's Vision

This retreat was inspired by a vision that Peter Levine and Euphrasia (Efu) Nyaki began creating together many years ago—a gathering where embodied healing, community, ancestry, and meaningful connection could be explored in an immersive retreat setting.

While Efu is no longer with us, her generosity, wisdom, and unwavering belief in the healing power of human connection continue to inspire this work. It is our privilege to carry that vision forward and to honor her legacy by creating spaces where people can learn, grow, and heal together.

In Efu's honor, a portion of every retreat registration will support the Ergos Community Health Somatic Education Program, helping expand access to trauma-informed education and embodied healing in underserved communities.

SE™ Case Consultation & Demonstration Sessions

Intergenerational Trauma, Ancestral Influences, and Spiritual Transformation in Clinical Practice

w/ Peter A. Levine, PhD

February 7, 2027 | Live in San Diego, California + Streaming Online + Recording Included
Includes 1 SE™ Case Consultation Credit

Some patterns are deeply personal.

Others seem to move quietly through generations — shaping relationships, emotional responses, survival strategies, identity, and our experience of connection in ways that are not always fully conscious.

You are invited to join two live SE™ Case Consultation and Demonstration Sessions exploring the clinical and lived experience of intergenerational trauma, ancestral influences, embodiment, and transformation.

Through live demonstrations, Peter will work directly with SE clients (you can submit a case - info below). Together they will offer clinical insight into how inherited survival patterns may emerge through the nervous system, relationships, emotions, and embodied experience.

These sessions are designed to support both personal insight and professional learning — offering participants the opportunity to witness how somatic work can gently uncover and renegotiate deeply held patterns while maintaining regulation, safety, and presence.

Topics explored may include:

  • Intergenerational and inherited trauma patterns

  • Survival responses held in the body across time

  • Attachment, ancestry, and relational influences

  • Somatic regulation and embodied awareness

  • The transformation of survival energy into greater vitality, meaning, and connection

  • Working with emotionally charged material through titration and presence

Participants attending as witnesses will have opportunities for reflection, discussion, and clinical learning throughout the demonstrations.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of these consultation sessions, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify ways intergenerational trauma patterns may emerge within somatic and relational experience.

  2. Describe how inherited survival responses can influence present-day emotional and physiological regulation.

  3. Observe somatic approaches for supporting regulation, titration, and embodied awareness during trauma processing.

  4. Discuss clinical considerations when working with ancestral and intergenerational themes in therapeutic settings.

  5. Differentiate between activation, overwhelm, and regulated processing within somatic trauma work.

  6. Demonstrate increased understanding of how SE™ principles may support work with inherited trauma patterns and relational dynamics.

  7. Identify resources and interventions that support safety, integration, and present-moment awareness during emotionally charged processes.

What the Sessions Provide

  • Two live SE™ demonstration sessions

  • Clinical discussion and teaching

  • Audience Q&A and integration dialogue

  • Exploration of intergenerational trauma themes within somatic practice

  • Opportunities to deepen observational and therapeutic skills

  • 1 SE™ Case Consultation Credit (value $115)

  • Workshop Certificate

Who This Is For

These sessions are appropriate for:

  • SE™ students seeking Case Consultation Credits

  • Practitioners interested in intergenerational trauma work

When clients are “stuck,” it’s not always resistance.

Sometimes they are:
→ anchored in shock
→ suspended in altered states
→ carrying unresolved near-death activation

Eye of the Needle offers tools for precisely this work.

All trauma involves an encounter with threat and, hence, a touch with death. However, some individuals actually experience states of death from which they are revived. In fact, some of the deepest and seemingly most intractable trauma symptoms occur with clients who become “stuck” in these profoundly altered states of consciousness that emerged out of a near-death experience (NDE).

Every year, in the USA alone, over 50 million people undergo surgery and other invasive medical procedures, often with powerful dissociative and amnesic agents. Many individuals experience partial (or full) awakening during these procedures. These terrifying ordeals can create ruptures deep in consciousness; these often go far beyond our conscious/verbal capacity, making these traumas difficult to access and heal.

According to the Near Death Experience Research Foundation, 774 varied NDEs occur every day. Often debilitating, these same near-death experiences hold the extraordinary potential for deep, positive, and enduring personal and spiritual transformation if they receive proper guidance and support.

Dr Levine’s EOTN two-part series addresses how to apply SE principles to a variety of near-death experiences, including but not limited to: drowning, vehicular accidents, physical attacks, illness, and surgery. SE techniques applicable to a wide variety of traumatic experiences are not always sufficient to treat trauma related to NDEs, and Eye of the Needle work is vital to complex cases demanding the most dedicated and skilled practitioners of SE.

EOTN I & II Learning Objectives:

  • Cultivate and refine perceptual skills and practical tools.

  • Track autonomic nervous system shifts.

  • Develop theoretical and practical frameworks to access dissociated and dislocated altered states of consciousness and liberate problematic fixations.

  • Practice the skills needed to weave dislocated conscious (and unconscious) states together and then move through the shock core.

  • Identify surgical trauma symptoms and partial awakening states from anaesthesia.

  • Alternate approaches to working with different types of anaesthesia.

  • Using SE, recommend proper pain management and anaesthesia protocol for reducing the chances of trauma related to surgery.

  • Explore working with post ICU debilitation.

  • Resolve difficult somatic symptoms by working with NDEs.

  • Interact with the mythopoetic plane.

  • Enable authentic spiritual experiences, including NDEs.

  • Learn how to take a client intake from an individual with possible unprocessed NDE states and/or anaesthesia trauma.

  • Didactic Lecture with Q&A

After many years of in-depth mentoring by Dr Levine, Ergos Somatic Experiencing Faculty member Dr Joshua Sylvae will join us as your teacher. We are very glad to have him with us continuing the Legacy of this important work.

Letter from the Dr Sylvae

The first time I was with Peter Levine, PhD, for the Eye of the Needle Masterclass was in 2014. As someone who experienced a near-drowning in my youth, I found it remarkable to see the way EOTN work helped me renegotiate nearly dying as a child. I found the work benefited many clients upon my return to my practice, and have enthusiastically assisted Peter and co-taught the program with him multiple times since.

In this class, we clearly see how traumas involving general anesthesia, a near-death experience, or other existential aspects have particular elements and a unique signature, making them less amenable to treatment using our normal SE tools. In this class we learn to support the transition between expanded states of consciousness and embodied awareness, facilitating the return of presence in the here and now (or, to say it another way, inviting the soul to return to the body). This requires clients to move through the eye of the needle, as it were, a challenging passage that requires practitioners to be steady and grounded in their tracking of altered states.

Master Class Series Includes

  • Didactic Lecture with Q&A

  • In-depth demonstration sessions with extensive debrief

The Embody Lab & Ergos Institute Presents
Increasing Client Emotional Tolerance

featuring Dr Levine

Promotional Rate Expires August 15

Emotional tolerance isn't built through insight alone — it's built through the body.
And there's no better way to learn that than watching it happen in a real session.

Somatic Therapy in Action: Increasing Client Emotional Tolerance brings together four expert practitioners — Deb Dana, Dr. Ruella Frank, Dr. Richard Strozzi-Heckler, and Dr. Peter Levine — each demonstrating their distinct approach to nervous system regulation, trauma, and emotional resilience. You're not reading about polyvagal theory or Somatic Experiencing®. You're watching them work.

  • See Deb Dana guide a client through homeostatic states using imagery and pendulation.

  • Watch Dr. Frank's Gestalt somatic approach track the subtle relational field in real time.

  • Witness Dr. Strozzi-Heckler help a client befriend anxiety through breath, centering, and affirmations that actually land in the body.

  • And see Dr. Levine work with chronic pain and medical trauma — slowing everything down until integration becomes possible.

Five hours of clinical demonstration, organized around five core competency areas: nervous system literacy, therapeutic presence, body-based interventions, working with anxiety and chronic pain, and resourcing for integration.

If you work with clients carrying anxiety, trauma, or chronic pain, this is required watching.

Right now it's $157 — $240 off the regular price of $397.

$157.00 — Flash Sale Price

Expires August 15th

3+-HOUR Workshop - Recorded

Open to Public and Professionals

Through August 15, 2026 the workshop is $30 off
$67 instead of the regular $97

Nearly every aspect of our lives involves some sort of communication and relationship. While some things are as easy to discuss as today’s weather, it’s much more common that our efforts to communicate run into the brick wall of an activated nervous system. As soon as your nervous system senses anything it perceives as danger, your inner resources shift to survival strategies and away from the higher functions that allow you to be resourced in collaboration.

Put more simply, if you have anything to communicate that’s stressful or challenging, your nervous system can easily take over and prevent you from having the conversation you wanted to have. Instead, you get into an argument, or one person shuts down, or avoids the connection altogether. Becoming dysregulated can make “how you would prefer to be” in those situations almost impossible.

In a therapeutic setting, this tendency can feel like a lightning-fast, unexpected rupture with a client. Or if you hold space for couples, you might see a conflict quickly spiral into patterns of defensiveness, attacking, overwhelm, and shame, despite many sessions of psycho-education.

The presence of trauma (both resolved and unresolved) only accentuates this phenomenon, as implicit memories evoked by stress or challenging communication make it even easier to react when the stakes are high.

Our workshop, Regulate to Communicate, gives you a path forward.

Join Dr. Levine and Neil Sattin to learn and experience a new framework for communication that will help you (and your clients) connect in times of uncertainty or stress. Whether you are a practitioner or someone with important things to communicate about, this workshop will help you understand precisely why communication goes wrong - and give you practices to facilitate a healing exchange.

This workshop includes practical instruction in Neil Sattin's “Regulate to Communicate” framework, plus regulation practices and a live demonstration by Dr. Levine. By the end of the three hours, you will have a solid foundation for stepping into any communication challenge—personal, professional, or political—with tools to keep yourself grounded, resourceful, and connected.

This is a unique opportunity to learn directly from Dr. Levine, one of the pioneers of body-based trauma healing work, alongside relationship expert Neil Sattin.

By participating in this workshop, you will:

  • Understand the hidden purpose of any type of communication - and how to leverage this purpose in your interactions with others

  • Recognize the warning signs of communication gone wrong, and identify the best strategy for bringing things back into balance

  • Experience body-based practices, facilitated by Dr. Levine to help you hear the inner wisdom, safely experience nervous system dysregulation, and discover tools to help you come back into balance

  • Know how to salvage communication when it goes amiss

  • Utilize the tools to help others in triggered moments, diminishing the risk of making things worse

  • Get familiar with the pathway to repair, both within and with others

Workshop Format

  • Neil Sattin presents the Regulate to Communicate framework

  • Dr. Levine and Neil discuss the subtle signs that our nervous system is engaged - and either helping or getting in the way - specific to communication scenarios

  • Dr. Levine provides a demonstration with a workshop participant

  • Debrief with original workshop participants and detailed Q&A with Dr. Levine and Neil

Relationship Alive Podcast Presents
Reconnection for High Conflict Couples

w/ Peter A Levine, PhD & Neil Sattin

Free Online

Have you ever wondered how to apply Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) in your relationships, or when navigating conflict?

Recently Peter sat down for a return visit to the Relationship Alive podcast to cover important new territory with host (and friend) Neil Sattin. Building on their earlier conversations, they get specific and practical: what can you actually do when your partner (or another person) becomes a trigger for you? How do you get past the trigger and back to connection?

And if the episode leaves you wanting more - Peter and Neil also co-taught a workshop, Regulate to Communicate, that bridges the gap between Peter’s work and concrete steps for communicating more effectively.

Do you ever have trouble staying “in it” when things get intense - in a session with a client, or when you’re trying to talk to someone about something challenging in your own life?

In this 3-hour recorded workshop, Peter and Neil show you how to use the Regulate to Communicate framework and internalize it, so that, over time, it becomes automatic - in your life and your work with others.

Through August 15, the workshop is $30 off ($67 instead of the regular $97)

Enjoy - we hope you find these programs helpful!

Part II 2027 July 8th - 12th

Prerequisite SEI Advanced I +

The Embody Lab Presents: A Somatic Guide to Working with Shame w/ Dr Levine + more

The Embody Lab & Ergos Institute Presents
A Somatic Guide to Working with Shame

featuring Dr Levine

*Promotional Rate Expires June 7th

For decades, the work of healing SHAME has been approached as a cognitive or relational task
— a matter of insight, of narrative, of understanding where the story began.

But those of us who work somatically know that shame doesn't live in the story. It lives in the body. In the collapse of the chest. In the drop of the eyes. In the breath that never quite returns.

That's why we're excited to share an in-depth program that speaks directly to working with shame.

We've partnered with The Embody Lab to offer their course A Somatic Guide to Working with Shame — a five-module program featuring some of the most respected voices in somatic and trauma-informed practice — at a special flash sale price.

What's inside:

The course brings together Dr. Peter A Levine with others in the field, like Deb Dana, Dr. Scott Lyons, Sergio Ocampo, and Kai Cheng Thom for a deep, embodied exploration of shame — from its neurological roots to its clinical manifestations to the somatic techniques that can actually move it.

Over six hours of CE-eligible content, you'll learn how to:

— Distinguish healthy from toxic shame in the body
— Recognize shame's physiological signatures in clients
— Apply Somatic Experiencing® techniques developed specifically for shame work
— Use parts work models to work with both the shaming and ashamed parts
— Integrate polyvagal, somatic, and depth psychology frameworks in a single clinical container

In Dr Levine’s SE™ session demonstration included in Module 5, you'll see how shame and pride operate as physiological opposites — and how techniques like the extended "Voo" sound and boundary-setting gestures can restore dignity from the inside out. This is the kind of clinical demonstration that changes how you sit with clients.

Shame is one of the most pervasive yet least explored experiences practitioners encounter in clinical work.

This course was designed to help change that — and this offering provides a rare opportunity to engage the material at an unusually accessible rate.

A dream which is not understood is like a letter which is not opened.
— The Talmud

Without imagination, we are constrained to constantly relive the past. It is only with imagination that we can envision a future different than the past. A future that brings us nourishment and more positive life experiences. Dreams are what allows access to the collective unconscious and to experience the rich boarder-realm between sleep and wakefulness.

It seems like everybody has a different theory of dreams. In this class we will explore the possibility that dreams exist on their own merit. Carl Jung observed that most of the neurosis today, along with the feeling or isolation, and fragmentation, arises from the disconnection between the “ego-mind” and the unconscious. He also wrote that the most important question that anyone can ask (is) what myth am I living? Dreams are a royal road to discovering our myths and living them in our lives. This workshop is not just about understanding our dreams (which can be revealing) but is primarily about bringing the dreams to life in our wakeful imagination. This way we can be enriched by this source of collective wisdom.

Dreams – and active imagination – can be sources of guiding transpersonal experiences, knowledge, and wisdom. By working with dreams, we have the possibility to uncover these profound archetypes and to discover how they direct the forward movement of our lives. Once we become aware of these inner-energetic forces, we have the option to change the direction of our lives.

This first-ever Australian masterclass with Dr Peter A Levine is designed especially for SEI Somatic Experiencing® students and graduates. It offers a rare opportunity to expand your clinical lens by exploring how imagination, dreams, and symbolic processes can deepen the effectiveness of SE™ work.

By attending, you will:

• Enrich your SE™ practice by learning how dream material and active imagination can reveal implicit patterns, themes, and archetypal forces beneath your clients’ somatic experience.

• Strengthen your ability to track meaning-making alongside sensation, helping clients integrate the symbolic and the somatic with greater coherence.

• Explore dreams as an expression of the collective unconscious, broadening your understanding of what moves through your clients beyond personal narrative alone.

• Learn how imagination supports forward movement, allowing clients to shift from repeating old survival patterns into envisioning and embodying new possibilities.

• Understand the role of myth and archetype in healing, and how these deeper currents can provide orientation, purpose, and momentum in trauma resolution.

• Develop skills to bring dream imagery into conscious awareness, inviting clients to engage with these images in ways that support regulation, integration, and transformation.

• Gain clarity on the relationship between the ego-mind and the unconscious, and how restoring connection between the two promotes wholeness and reduces fragmentation.

This masterclass goes far beyond dream interpretation. It invites you to work with dreams as living experiences—resources that can animate your clinical work, expand your perceptual field, and support clients in accessing their own inner wisdom.

This is a unique opportunity to learn directly from the founder of SE™, in Australia, in a way that will meaningfully enrich and deepen your work with clients.

Recreating Songlines from Trauma Trails

Weaving Indigenous Wisdom, Somatic Experiencing® and Collective Healing

24-26 April 2026 | Lake Ainsworth Sport & Recreation Centre, Bundjalung Country, Australia

Friday 5:00pm - Sunday 8:00pm local time

w/ Peter A Levine, PhD + more

Restoring Resilience is honoured to be co-hosting the Recreating Songlines from Trauma Trails - Weaving Indigenous Wisdom, Somatic Experiencing® and Collective Healing on the lands of the Bundjalung Nation — led by Prof Judy Atkinson and Dr Caroline Atkinson (We Al-li), in collaboration with Dr Peter A. Levine, Maggie Kline and Ashley Dargan, and Restoring Resilience Co-Founders Anna Skolarikis and Phyllis Traficante.

This workshop weaves We Al-li Storywork and Somatic Experiencing® through the lens of Two-Eyed Seeing — walking with both eyes open:

• one eye grounded in Indigenous cultural knowledge, sovereignty, and ways of being

• one eye informed by deep observation of nature, physiology, instinct, and the body’s innate capacity to heal

Together, these ways of knowing help restore what has been fragmented — returning people, families, and communities to belonging, dignity, and wholeness.

Held by Lake Ainsworth — a place of cleansing, reflection, and renewal — participants will move through a culturally held process of listening, story, movement, learning, and remembrance, guided by Country as teacher.

The Northern Rivers workshop is designed to:

• Honour the leadership, wisdom, and sovereignty of First Nations Peoples

• Practise Two-Eyed Seeing as a respectful meeting place between Indigenous and non-Indigenous healing knowledges

• Deepen into We Al-li’s 6 Stages of Healing, as articulated by Prof. Judy Atkinson

• Explore Somatic Experiencing® as a body-led, nature-informed approach to healing trauma, rooted in the study of animals in the wild, human physiology, and the rhythms of regulation and recovery

• Introduce The GROW Program practices where individual healing happens in relationship

We Al-li’s 6 Stages of Healing

(Atkinson, 2002 — Return to Wholeness)

This gathering is guided by the six culturally grounded stages of healing, which are relational, cyclical, and held within community, allowing people to move at their own pace and in their own way:

1. Creating Culturally Safe Places

Establishing cultural, emotional, physical, and spiritual safety where people feel respected, protected, and supported.

2. Finding and Telling Our Stories

Sharing our stories in ways that are witnessed, honoured, and held with care — without judgement or shame.

3. Making Sense of Our Stories

Reflecting, understanding, and finding meaning — connecting experiences with identity, culture, and lived truth.

4. Feeling the Feelings

Allowing emotions to surface safely — grief, sadness, anger, fear, love — and letting the body process what it holds.

5. Moving Through Layers of Loss and Grief

Working through loss with support, restoring ownership, choice, and agency through gentle healing and self-determination.

6. Strengthening Cultural and Spiritual Identities

Reconnecting with spirit, culture, community, and belonging — restoring identity, purpose, and wholeness.

Program Highlights:

• Welcome to Country & Cultural Ceremony — Bundjalung Elders

• We Al-li Storywork & Healing Processes guided through the 6 Stages

• Somatic Experiencing® teachings — Dr Peter Levine & Maggie Kline

• Honouring the body’s innate wisdom, instinct, and capacity to restore balance

• GROW Program & Relational Proprioception™ — restoring safety, agency, and dignity in the body

• Yarning Circles — respectful dialogue across cultural knowledge systems

• Cultural performance, story, and music — Ash Dargan and local community

• Nature-based embodied practices by Lake Ainsworth

Each element is held in alignment with the 6 Stages of Healing, ensuring a paced, respectful, and supported journey from arrival to departure.

Guiding Principles - Respect | Reciprocity | Relationship | Renewal

Participants are invited to engage with humility, courage, curiosity, and deep listening — recognising Country as teacher and community as medicine.

Who should attend:

This event is for people who understand that healing from trauma is not only individual, but relational, cultural, and collective.

It is suited to those who can arrive with humility, respect for Country, and a willingness to listen, learn, and be in relationship, rather than to extract knowledge or seek quick outcomes.

This is especially suited for:

• First Nations community members, Elders, cultural leaders, and

knowledge holders

• Indigenous healers, storytellers, artists, and community practitioners

• Psychotherapists, psychologists, counsellors, social workers, and mental health clinicians

• Somatic Experiencing® practitioners and students, and other body-based practitioners

• Educators, early childhood professionals, school wellbeing staff, and youth workers

• Maternal and Child Health nurses and family support practitioners

• Health professionals, including Aboriginal health workers, nurses, and doctors

• Justice, youth justice, and forensic workers

• Community workers, humanitarian and crisis-response practitioners

• Organisational leaders and decision-makers shaping trauma-informed systems

• People with lived experience of trauma who are seeking healing grounded in culture, land, and community

This is not a clinical training or a certification program. It is a held, relational gathering that weaves Indigenous wisdom, Somatic Experiencing®, and collective healing.

Participants are invited to come with openness, respect for cultural protocols, and a readiness to engage in shared learning, reflection, and connection.

Does this sound familiar?

On the outside, they play the hero. They’re the "selfless" partner, the "devoted" friend, the one everyone else admires. But behind closed doors, the air feels different.

Do you feel a knot of dread or a sense of being indebted every time they do something nice for you?

Does their generosity feel less like a gift and more like a cage, leaving you smaller and quieter with every passing day?

If this resonates, please listen closely: What you are feeling isn't a lack of gratitude—it’s a loss of self.

This is Weaponized Kindness. It’s a quiet, calculated form of control that uses "niceness" as a silencer. It’s designed to make your needs feel like burdens and your intuition feel like craziness.

If you’re losing your mind in a relationship that the world calls perfect, I want you to know the truth: You are not crazy.

You deserve to step out of the fog and reclaim your sense of clarity.

That’s why I’m so honored to invite you to a special online event our dear Faculty member, Efu, is a part of: Healing From Covert Narcissism & Weaponized Kindness.

Here’s just some of what you’ll learn from renowned psychologists, therapists, relationship experts & more:

  • Escaping The Kindness Trap: Break the cycle of guilt, confusion, and the silent manipulation of weaponized kindness.

  • The Covert Narcissism Survival Toolkit: Clear the mental fog of hidden abuse and trade your exhaustion for expert-led strategies that put you back in the driver’s seat of your life.

  • Healing The Body After Gaslighting: Learn gentle strategies to calm your nervous system and find safety within your own skin.

  • Overcoming The Leftovers of an Impossible Childhood: Identify and clear the lingering emotional clutter left behind by an upbringing where your needs were a secondary thought.

  • Moving From Survival to Self-Trust: Rebuild your connection to your intuition by developing a deep sense of inner power, safety, and peace.

  • Reclaiming Your Sense of Aliveness: Discover how to shake off the emotional numbness of abuse and rediscover the hobbies, passions, and joy that make you feel vibrantly alive!

  • Healing "Invisible" Wounds: Learn to validate your experience in a world that often disregards covert abuse, and get support from outstanding experts who understand what you're going through.

  • Exposing the Passive-Aggressive Playbook: Learn to identify the subtle jabs and jokes used to keep you small, so they never make you lose your inner balance again.

  • The Sovereignty of "No": Transform saying "no" from a source of terror into a neutral boundary that preserves your energy and repels manipulative personalities.

  • Your Body as Your Compass: Reconnect with your physical sensations so that you're able to detect weaponized kindness before your mind tries to rationalize it.

  • The Attachment Trauma Reset: Explore gentle pathways to heal the anxious-avoidant loop created by hidden control and learn to build relationships based on transparency, not power plays.

  • Breaking the Legacy of Silence: Identify the unspoken rules of a narcissistic upbringing and consciously choose which family patterns end with you.

This online series is brought to you by iKE ALLEN & Ande Anderson, Co-Owners of AVAIYA University (creators & teachers of transformational courses, books, films and online events such as Overcoming Anxiety & Depression, Healing From Childhood Trauma, Overcoming Betrayal & Deception, and many more).

After you register, keep an eye out for AVAIYA’s email for specific details on accessing the expert classes.

(Free replays will be available for 24 hours after each class airs).

It's your turn to stop seeking permission to exist and start enjoying healthy, honest connections that don't require you to sacrifice your soul to keep the peace.

P.S. Please share the love and forward this email to your friends, family and community – anyone who you think would benefit! Thank you for helping us change lives (-:

w/ Pawan Bareja, PhD & Peter A Levine, PhD

Online Workshop - Recorded

Saturday & Sunday, March 28-29, 2026
10:00am - 4:00pm US Pacific Time

Open to Public and Professionals

(CEs Available)

In a time when daily stress, social upheaval, and the climate crisis leave many of us overwhelmed or “stuck” in fight, flight, or freeze, our natural resilience can feel out of reach. This weekend retreat offers a grounded path back to your inherent aliveness and inner strength.

Together, we’ll explore practices that support the body and mind in returning toward balance during moments of fear, helplessness, and emotional overload. Drawing from time-tested mindfulness practices and evidence-informed stress-reduction and resilience tools backed by neuroscience, participants will explore ways to settle the body and meet challenges with clarity and compassion.

Our time will have teachings, guided stationary and movement meditations, trauma teachings, self-reflection, and Q&A.

This weekend will include teaching with Pawan Bareja, PhD and discussion and participant demonstration sessions led by Peter Levine, PhD.

This retreat is an opportunity to return to yourself—to reclaim ease, courage, and the essence of aliveness. Many practitioners experience a more joyful heart, deeper sleep, improved digestion, steadier relationships, and a renewed sense of belonging.

Online Only: We are offering this program online via Zoom.

We hope to see you there!

The Future of Therapy & Coaching
A Live 3-Day Exploration of What Comes Next

hosted by Dr Alex Howard & Anna Duschinsky, MA

FREE for a Limited Time
March 20th - 22nd
Online - Program Airs Live 4x’s a day for 3-hours

The lines between therapy and coaching are blurring.

Dr Alex Howard is hosting a live 3-day summit called The Future of Therapy & Coaching (March 20-22), and it's designed specifically for practitioners who are navigating the space between these two worlds.

Whether you're a therapist wanting to bring coaching frameworks into your work—or a coach who wants greater therapeutic depth without stepping outside your scope—this is for you.

What makes this different:

This isn't a pre-recorded interview collection. It's a live, focused exploration of where therapy and coaching are actually converging—and how to practice at that intersection with clarity, integration, and ethical confidence.

Alex has been unusually selective about who's part of this. Most sessions are led by his internal team, but he's bringing on a handful of carefully chosen guests—the kind of voices that don't often appear together in one conversation.

That tells you something about the caliber of this conversation.

The 3-day journey:

  • Day 1: Understanding the crossroads—where therapy and coaching meet

  • Day 2: The evolving edge of therapeutic work—trauma, nervous system, complexity

  • Day 3: The future of integration—AI, live demos, and what comes next

This is for you if:

  • You're a therapist seeking a more structured, goal-oriented framework

  • You're a coach wanting therapeutic depth without losing clarity of scope

  • You feel existing modalities no longer fully meet client complexity

  • You're considering advanced training and want to understand the landscape

When: March 20-22, 2026
Format: Live (with replay access)
Program Airs Live 4x’s a day for 3-hours
Cost: Free

The lines between therapy and coaching are blurring. This summit will help you navigate that with confidence.

From Chaos to Coherence

Have you ever felt like you’re only "alive" when there’s a crisis to solve? Or that you only feel safe when everyone around you is happy?

If you’ve spent your life walking on eggshells, managing other people’s moods, or feeling a strange pull toward high-stress situations, I want you to know something important: This isn't a flaw in your character.

Often, this is simply how your nervous system was wired when you were young to help you survive.

But as you’ve probably noticed, staying in that "survival mode" within chaotic relationships is incredibly exhausting.

Here’s just some of what you’ll learn from renowned psychologists, therapists, relationship experts & more:

  • Codependency vs. Inner Peace: Learn to distinguish the "high" of chaos from true serenity and develop the skills to choose lasting peace over temporary intensity in your life & relationships.

  • Healing at the Core: Go beyond the symptoms to address the foundational wounds of codependency, ensuring a recovery that is both deep and permanent.

  • Breaking the Trauma Bond: Understand the biological "glues" that keep you stuck in toxic loops and learn the specific steps to safely detach and heal.

  • Freedom from Relational Loops: Learn how to stop the cycle of rescuing and fixing, empowering you to free yourself from the weight of others' dysregulation.

  • Subconscious Reprogramming: Discover how to identify and overwrite the hidden "scripts" that keep you stuck in people-pleasing and self-abandonment.

  • Redefining Love: Shatter the myth that codependency is "loving too much" and learn the difference between healthy devotion and self-sacrificing enmeshment.

  • Beyond the Chaos Blueprint: Uncover the childhood roots of your addiction to drama and learn how developmental patterns drive your current relational cycles.

  • From Dysregulation to Regulation: Master the art of organizing your nervous system to move out of "fight or flight" and into a state of grounded balance, allowing you to stay calm and centered even in your most challenging relationships.

  • Inducing Deep Self-Healing: Discover advanced methods to move beyond surface-level fixes and facilitate a profound, self-directed recovery from the inside out.

  • Communication & Attachment: Understand how codependency & attachment styles impact your sex life and learn to communicate your needs without the fear of abandonment.

  • Overcoming Chaos Addiction: Identify the subconscious "hit" you get from crisis and learn how to replace the need for drama with a healthy craving for stability.

  • Calm Self-Acceptance as Your New Normal: Shift from constant self-criticism to a state of inner peace, making tranquility—rather than turmoil—your baseline.

  • Reclaim Your Identity: Move beyond the roles you play for others and transform your internal world from "fragmented" to "calm and whole."

It's your turn to let go of the need to please others, harness your own approval, and enjoy healthy relationships without sacrificing yourself.

June 2023 Ergos In-Person Workshop Review:I was deeply nourished and powerfully transformed by my recent training experience with Peter Levine and Ergos. I felt emotionally held by the overall therapeutic container and the beautiful grounds. Peter and the assistants delivered a high standard of clinical training, and I appreciated how well-organized the week was and how much time was set aside for experiential work and practice. Peter's client demonstrations, 12 in all, were deeply moving and brought the work down to a very practical and applied level. I returned home with my own Smovey rings and a six-foot attachment stick! I am deeply grateful to the staff of Ergos for making this training possible.” - Steven, Student

Dr. Ruth Lanius
—an internationally recognized clinician-scientist in the neurobiology of trauma—and Dr. Peter A. Levine, developer of Somatic Experiencing®, combine their complementary expertise to present a cohesive integrative framework for how trauma can be safely resolved and mind–body unity restored.

This 3-day workshop blends neuroscience, naturalistic observation, and somatic healing. Participants will learn to work with embodied memory, support emotional regulation, and cultivate resilience and joy through the body. The included half-day case consultation provides a powerful bridge between theory and practice, offering live demonstrations of SE in action.

Dr. Levine brings over 50 years of pioneering trauma-healing work, while Dr. Lanius contributes decades of research and clinical insight into the mind–body effects of trauma. Together, they guide attendees through a profound exploration of embodiment, emotion, regulation, and healing.

This program welcomes clinicians, body-based practitioners, SE students, and individuals seeking a deeper understanding of embodied trauma resolution.

Grief, Joy, and the Return to Your Authentic Self will explore our relationship with grief. Which losses happened in my life? What did I learn about how to grieve them – or not to grieve? And what did this mean for the further course of my life? Even “smaller” losses that were not seen or accepted as such by the people around me can become firmly stuck in the soul. So, identifying those different issues or portals of grief will be helpful for our exploration. In looking into this, dealing with experiences of loss and grief with all our SE tools, we will find ways to go deeper into what is unresolved in ourselves and how to let go of patterns and obstacles for further development and living joyfully. In doing this in the context of a course for SE practitioners and students, we will also strengthen our abilities to work with grief in our clients and support them on their way to their authentic selves.

When we learn to be open to emotional pain and sorrow and let ourselves grieve what is lost, we can find the well in our soul from which inner strength, much larger resilience, and joy of living can evolve.

Peter Levine refers to the I Ging, The Chinese Book of Change Sign 48, The Fountain or Well. This sign reminds us that it is not enough to change superficially but to take care of the deepest foundation of life, which is inexhaustible.

Doing this in a way that creates a safe ground first makes it possible to visit the places of pain and sorrow. There, we experience the emotional charge and raw power that has the potential to pull us away from the way we have to go, to free our authentic selves and be alive. Caring for the basic SE principles like titration, pendulation, SIBAM, coupling dynamics, and joining, the immense pain hidden in grief and our concealed sorrow can be touched slowly and with awareness. Moving through it, we can open up for joy again and reunite with our Authentic Self.

This multilayered inner process challenges us to transform our identity. The trauma we experience and the hidden energies of grief, sorrow, and heartache shape how we see ourselves. To change this belief (“That’s the way I am”) and find a new identity in which joy, well-being, and benevolence become central, we need inner and outer guidance, like in every journey through the deep night of the soul.

Grief: The 7 Portals
1 – Loss of someone or also something you dared to love
2 – The places that haven’t felt love and should have so – often connected to immobilizing shame and self-blame – early attachment woundings and developmental stress
3 - What we expected but did not get – which is often difficult to distinguish from 2
4 – Ancestral grief
5 - The sorrows of the world
6 – Pervasive disconnection, lack of social cohesion
7 – Existential grief – the illusion of separateness, a spiritual form of grief, a yearning for belonging and unity.

Very often, those portals are interconnected, and one experience of grief can trigger another one. Naturally, during those four days, we will not be able to look deeply into every one of those gates, but we name them, and we hope you will get an idea of how it might show in you and your clients.

Trauma Solutions Presents

Witnessing the Body’s Wisdom:
A Somatic Journey Through Shame, Grief, and the Return to Authentic Joy

5-Session LIVE Series begins Feb 4th
Enrollment is OPEN until Feb 3rd

featuring

Dr Levine & Dr Diane Poole Heller

Some forms of learning can’t be absorbed through reading or explanation alone.

Working with shame and grief is one of them.

Because these emotions don’t announce themselves clearly, they often shape the work long before we can name them. Knowing what to look for—posture, breath, withdrawal, or collapse—and how to intervene becomes a crucial skill.

That’s why watching how an expert tracks and responds to these patterns in real time is so valuable—and so rare.

This February, Dr. Peter A Levine and Dr. Diane Poole Heller are offering a live, five-session training built around exactly that kind of learning:

Witnessing the Body’s Wisdom: A Somatic Journey Through Shame, Grief, and the Return to Authentic Joy

ENROLL HERE

You won’t just hear what to do when you encounter shame and grief…

  • You’ll learn how the nervous system reveals them.

  • You’ll study these micro-moments frame by frame.

  • And Dr. Levine will demonstrate how attunement, pacing, and presence shape what happens next.

In alternating sessions of live, unscripted demonstrations and insightful debriefs, Dr. Levine will share how to:

  • Identify the early somatic cues of shame and grief

  • Understand why the system moves the way it does

  • Follow the body with precision, without pushing or forcing

  • Recognize the difference between collapse, protection, and emergence

  • Support clients as their nervous systems complete what was once unfinished

These are skills that cannot be learned through theory alone.

LEARN MORE

Enrollment is only OPEN until February 3rd, 2026. This is the ONLY time Dr. Levine and Dr. Heller will be teaching this course together live—don’t miss your chance to learn directly from two experts in one course!

We invite you to
visit the enrollment page for a detailed description of the full training curriculum, course bonuses, pricing options, and session dates.

We hope you’ll join Dr. Levine and Dr. Heller on this journey of learning and healing.

Mind, Brain, and Body
in the Transformation of Trauma:
Clinical Approaches to Resolving Fixated Physiological States

Have you ever seen Dr Levine teach the fundamentals of SE™?

During this program with the California Psychological Association, Dr. Levine will demonstrate how to assess and address trauma symptoms through a combination of theoretical instruction and experiential practices:

  • Define how trauma responses function as defensive bodily reactions meant to protect us, and how they may present in clients.

  • Explain how trauma-based perceptions remain fundamentally unchanged until the internal experience of the body shifts.

  • Differentiate between top-down and bottom-up processing and describe how these systems can work together.

  • Identify two techniques that support nervous system regulation during trauma processing.

Shame and Grief: How Trauma Lives in the Body

January 21st, 2026
90-minutes
featuring Dr Levine

In my work over the years, I’ve seen how often shame and grief quietly shape the therapeutic process. They don’t usually announce themselves—they show up through the body. Learning to recognize these patterns physiologically can deepen both understanding and care. That’s why I want to personally invite you to a free, live training I’ll be teaching together with Diane Poole Heller:

Shame and Grief: How Trauma Lives in the Body on January 21st, 2026

In this 90-minute session, I’ll explore how shame and grief show up in the body—and how the nervous system attempts to protect, regulate, and eventually release them.

This is not a scripted presentation. It is a live demonstration session. It’s an opportunity to understand visually how the body actually processes trauma.

In this program, you’ll learn:

- How shame and grief live in the body as adaptive responses—not pathologies

- Core Somatic Experiencing® principles that support the nervous system’s natural movement toward regulation

- How shame and grief often interact and block one another, or—when supported—allow release

- Gentle, body-based ways of working that honor pacing, safety, and dignity

We’ll also leave space for a brief intro on the topic, live Q&A, and a replay will be sent to everyone who registers.

For those who find this material meaningful, I’ll also share an invitation to continue with my five-session experiential series, where I work more deeply with shame and grief through live demonstrations, in-depth debriefs, guided group experiences, with recorded and written integration materials.

I hope you’ll join us.

Warmly, Peter A. Levine, PhD

It’s often said that time heals all wounds, but for many of us, the echoes of childhood trauma don't just fade away—they secretly settle deep within us.

Over time, this can manifest as an inability to trust, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or a nagging voice constantly telling you that you aren’t "enough."

If this sounds familiar, please know that you are not broken.

These behaviors were survival strategies your younger self developed to stay safe, to keep the peace, or to maintain connection in an environment that felt unstable. It was your armor.

But the armor that once protected you is now keeping you from the connection, clarity and peace you deserve.

You don’t have to carry this forever, and you are not alone.

Healing Childhood Trauma & Toxic Shame is brought to you by iKE ALLEN & Ande Anderson, Co-Owners of AVAIYA University (creators & teachers of transformational courses, books, films and online events such as Somatic Solutions For Chronic Pain, Overcoming Codependency, Breaking Free From Toxic Relationships, and many more.)

Here’s just some of what you’ll learn from 20+ trauma experts, renowned psychologists, somatic practitioners & more:

  • Breaking the Shame Spell: Reclaim the authentic self that's been stuck living beneath the layered stories of unworthiness.

  • Create Your Childhood Trauma & Toxic Shame Toolkit: Shift from surviving your past to thriving in your present with expert-led trauma release practices.

  • Dispelling The "I'm Not Good Enough" Belief: Understand why shame thrives in the dark and how the courageous act of vulnerability can instantly dissolve its power.

  • Becoming the Parent You Needed: Discover how to give your inner child & teen the safety, love, and belonging they’ve been waiting for.

  • Understanding the Inner Critic & Urge to Check Out: Heal the shame of taking up space and unlearn the survival mechanism of "disappearing" to stay safe.

  • Healing the Mother Wound: Address the complex pain of dysfunctional maternal relationships and begin rebuilding your self-worth.

  • Outside of the Box Self-Care: Explore mindful ways to treat yourself with grace, quiet the judge within, and reshape your old wounds into wisdom!

  • Beyond The Survival Mindset: Practical strategies to help you move beyond merely coping and start living a vibrant, empowered, fulfilling life!

  • Overcoming The Narcissistic Parent Curse: Learn essential steps to reclaim your identity, rebuild autonomy, and find your footing after the storm of narcissistic abuse.

  • The Physiology of Peace: Learn how to settle your overactive stress response with somatic practices and find the 'off switch' for stored trauma.

  • Healing Your Inner Child: A compassionate guide to connecting with and healing the wounded parts of your younger self.

  • Coming Home To Yourself: Use gentle tools to cultivate safety from within and find your way back to your true self, beyond the pain of your past.

It's okay to feel safe & empowered,

Ergos Team

Free Your Body from the Past: A Somatic Path to Healing

Peter A. Levine, PhD, developer of Somatic Experiencing®, brings a unique perspective to the relationship between healing, presence, and spiritual growth. His work shows that many of the barriers we encounter on our inner path are not failures of will or intention—they are the remnants of unfinished biological responses held in the nervous system. When these patterns soften and resolve, our capacity for clarity, connection, and expansion naturally increases.

In this keynote, Dr. Levine will explore how physiological safety forms the foundation for meaningful transformation. He will explain how the body’s instinctive responses shape our inner experience, and how a regulated nervous system allows us to access deeper states of awareness with steadiness rather than overwhelm. This is where the body and mind begin to work together rather than against each other.

A key part of the session includes a live Somatic Experiencing® demonstration, where Dr. Levine will guide a participant through a gentle process of tracking sensations and observing the body’s natural movement toward balance. This real-time experience illustrates how releasing old survival patterns frees energy that can support insight, intuition, and a greater sense of aliveness.

Dr. Levine’s teaching reminds us that spiritual growth is not about rising above the body—it begins by returning to it. When the nervous system is no longer bound to the past, it becomes a powerful ally on the path toward presence, coherence, and deeper inner expansion.

The Body–Mind Bridge: How Physiological Safety Supports Spiritual Expansion

You’ve consumed countless spiritual teachings over the course of your life. But have you truly embodied them? `

We collect insights faster than we can integrate them. We meditate, we read, we practice… but rarely do we give our bodies, energy, and emotions the space to catch up with what the mind knows.

That’s why embodiment matters. It’s the bridge between understanding and transformation.

The Mindvalley Spiritual Summit 2025 is a 2-day immersive experience designed to help you close that gap, to move from learning spirituality to living it.

Join 9 world-class teachers, @vishen, @drtaraswart, @mariediamondofficial, @the.new.dawn, @leeholdenofficial, @reganhillyer, @shihengyi.online, @drpeteralevine, and more, as they guide you through a complete framework for awakening: from Qi Gong and somatic release to Kundalini flow, trauma healing, and quantum consciousness work.

Online attendance is available FREE for a limited time.

Trauma in the Public Eye VII

A Live 3-Day Experiential Workshop

Presented by Betsy Polatin & Peter A. Levine, PhD

Downtown Los Angeles, CA | November 7–9, 2025

After powerful sessions in London, New York, Los Angeles, and online, this will be the seventh time this workshop is offered by Betsy and Peter. Back by popular demand, Session VII builds on the same successful format, now with expanded content, deeper practices, and a full three-day experience!

Space is Limited
Detailed Information Below…

Entertaining. Healing. One-of-a-Kind.

Being seen can be exhilarating—and terrifying. Whether you're stepping on stage, speaking publicly, or simply entering a room full of people, the nervous system often tells a deeper story than words ever could.

For performers, therapists, teachers, leaders, and anyone navigating visibility, the demand to "show up" often collides with the body’s instinct to protect.

In Trauma in the Public Eye, internationally renowned Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) founder Peter A. Levine, PhD, and master movement and breath educator Betsy Polatin, MFA, SEP, team up to offer an experiential 3-day immersion into the powerful intersection of trauma, embodiment, and public presence.

What to Expect

This is a live, interactive, and highly experiential in-person workshop with supervision.

This dynamic, live workshop blends:

  • Engaging lecture and theory

  • Live demonstrations with participants

  • Group exercises and breakout sessions

  • Optional movement and performance-based practices

  • Opportunities to explore your own comfort with being seen

You’ll learn to:

  • Recognize how trauma patterns show up in the body

  • Release freeze, collapse, and performance anxiety

  • Cultivate embodied confidence, vocal freedom, and authentic presence

  • Deepen nervous system awareness through movement and breath

  • Reclaim your unique vitality—even in high-pressure moments

This was one of the most impactful workshops I’ve attended. The live demos, applicable tools, and compassionate space changed how I show up in the world. I move more freely now, with a feeling of grace.
— Sarah, Past Participant

Who Is It For?

This program is open to everyone—actors, musicians, dancers, educators, therapists, facilitators, and anyone who engages publicly and wants to feel more alive, expressive, and grounded.

  • For an actor, this workshop raises the question – How can I make a character truly believable?

  • For a musician – How can I express the music most authentically?

  • For everyone – How can I learn to be comfortable with myself as I interact with others? How can I feel safer in public?

After all, aren’t we all performers in our own public eye?

Choose your level of participation

  • Be a witness, holding presence and learning through observation

Somatic Workshop:
Grief, Joy, and the Return to Your Authentic Self

w/ Ergos Institute Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) Faculty Ursula Funke-Kaiser

Online
Sunday, November 2nd, 2025
7:00am - 1:00pm PST

Recording Included + Recording of Intro to SE™ with Dr. Levine

Cost: $135 USD

Grief lives in both the obvious and unseen losses of our lives. When we learn to meet it with safety and awareness, grief can become a powerful gateway back to resilience, vitality, and joy.

Grief is one of the deepest teachers we encounter in life. It touches not only the losses we consciously mourn, but also the unacknowledged and unseen losses that become lodged in our bodies and souls. This workshop invites you to explore grief as a portal back to your authentic self—where resilience, vitality, and joy can emerge.

In this experiential day of learning and practice, we will ask:

  • Which losses shaped the course of my life?

  • How did I learn to grieve—or to not grieve?

  • What patterns or obstacles remain unresolved?

Using Somatic Experiencing® principles and practices, we will create the safe ground needed to touch sorrow gently, with awareness. Together, we will touch into the Seven Portals of Grief—from personal loss and ancestral sorrow to existential grief—understanding how each may show up in us and in our clients.

Through lecture, guided practice, and supervised integration, you’ll begin to learn how to:

  • Identify and navigate the layers of grief in yourself and others

  • Work safely with emotional charge using SE tools (titration, pendulation, SIBAM, coupling dynamics, joining)

  • Recognize how grief shapes identity—and how to open space for transformation

  • Reconnect with the inner wellspring of resilience and joy that grief can conceal but never destroy

By opening to grief, we make space for renewal. By tending to sorrow, we touch into the well of life itself—what Peter Levine calls the inexhaustible fountain described in the I Ching. This process allows us to rediscover vitality, benevolence, and our authentic self.

Workshop Format:

  • Didactic lecture with Q&A

  • Experiential guided practices

  • Supervised practice and integration

  • Demonstration sessions

This Workshop is designed for the SE Community and the other healing professionals who wish to deepen their process while strengthening their ability to guide clients through grief with skill and compassion.

Join us with Ursula for this online immersion into the healing power of grief and the joyful return to self.

Esstim: In Person & Online - Barcelona 2025 Trauma Congress w/ Dr Levine

Conference In-Person & Online

Barcelona 2025 Trauma Congress

Dr Levine Keynote: Waking the Tiger, Healing Trauma on Oct 5th

October 3rd - 5th, 2025

Somatic Experiencing®(SE™), developed by Dr. Levine, is a naturalistic and neurobiological approach to the treatment of trauma and other stress related disorders. SE offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight, fawn, freeze, or collapse responses and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states. It offers practical skills appropriate to various healing and helping professions, including medical and mental health providers, first responders, educators, and more.

Trauma can come from many things like war and abuse, but it can also come from a difficult birth, an automobile accident, loss of a loved one, or even an invisible threat that stokes fear. These protective mechanisms can get stuck in the body and many become frozen in the past, unable to be fully present in the here and now, and unable to move forward in life with ease and joy. For some, traumatic experiences may lead to chronic fear, anxiety, and depression, as well as various physical symptoms, like chronic pain, IBS, etc.

During this unique program, through personal stories and lecture, Dr. Levine will guide us in how the SE approach gently facilitates the release of thwarted survival energy bound in the body, thus addressing the root cause of trauma symptoms, allowing us and our clients to better manage stressful times without overload, burnout, or regretful transgressions.

•   Define how trauma responses are a set of defensive bodily reactions meant to protect us and how they may present in a patient.

•   Identify how trauma-based perceptions remain fundamentally unchanged until the internal experience of the body changes.

•   Demonstrate various techniques to aid with nervous system regulation.
