Embodiment, Emotions and Being Human

15th Annual Zurich Traumadays

Featuring
Prof. Thomas Fuchs, Prof. Ruth Lanius, and Dr Levine

June 20th - 22nd, 2025
Zurich, Switzerland

The living, sensing, feeling and knowing body forms the human proto-self. This statement by Peter A. Levine, Ph.D. describes the gold standard of our being. Together with Prof. Ruth Lanius, one of the most important voices in modern neurobiological stress research, and Prof. Thomas Fuchs, the multi-faceted philosopher and psychiatrist from Heidelberg, we will be exploring the foundations of our humanity at the 15th Annual Trauma Days from June 20 - 22, 2025 in Zurich. This includes the often overlooked key role of emotions, which arise from the body. If we connect with them they will express their richness and enhance our aliveness through conscious embodiment.

Topics include:

• Developmental Trauma as a Burden for Emotions and Embodiment

• Embodied Feelings, Embodied Memory

• The Emotion's Longing to be Heard

• Learning to Sense the Inner World

• Trauma as a Physical Borderline Situation

• Vitality, Vibrancy and Joy
