Beyond Survival

A Somatic Journey Through Intergenerational Trauma and Spiritual Transformation

A 4-Day Immersive Workshop with Peter A. Levine & Euphrasia J. Nyaki

February 5–8, 2027 | Live in San Diego, California + Streaming Online + Recording Included

“Perceptions remain fundamentally unchanged until the internal experience of the body changes.”
— Peter A. Levine

Many of us carry ways of bracing, protecting, disconnecting, or enduring that did not begin entirely with us.

Some patterns emerge from our own lived experiences. Others may echo through generations — shaped by the lives, losses, resilience, and survival strategies of those who came before us.

These inherited patterns can quietly influence how we relate, how we respond to stress, how safe we feel in connection, and even how we experience meaning, vitality, and purpose in our lives.

Yet within these same patterns may also lie untapped resources for healing, presence, connection, and transformation.

In this immersive four-day workshop, Peter A. Levine and Euphrasia J. Nyaki (Efu) invite participants into a deeply experiential exploration of trauma, embodiment, ancestral influences, and spiritual transformation.

Together, they will explore how unresolved survival responses — held within the body and often carried across generations — may shape our inner lives in ways far outside conscious awareness. Through somatic awareness, guided experiential practice, reflection, discussion, and demonstration, participants will have the opportunity to explore how greater regulation, presence, and connection can open new possibilities for healing and aliveness.

This workshop approaches spirituality not as doctrine or belief, but as a lived human experience that may emerge naturally as the nervous system becomes less organized around survival alone.

A Shared Exploration

This workshop brings together two deeply complementary perspectives.

For decades, Peter A. Levine has helped transform the understanding of trauma through the development of Somatic Experiencing® (SE™), a body-oriented approach grounded in the understanding that trauma is not simply an event, but an unresolved physiological response held within the nervous system.

Euphrasia J. Nyaki brings more than thirty years of global teaching and clinical experience integrating Somatic Experiencing®, Family Constellation System Therapy, and deeply relational approaches to healing rooted in ancestry, embodiment, and human connection.

Together, Peter and Efu create a learning environment that is thoughtful, experiential, grounded, and open — one that honors both scientific understanding and the deeper dimensions of human experience.

What We Will Explore

Throughout the workshop, participants will explore:

  • The impact of intergenerational and inherited trauma patterns

  • How survival responses may continue to shape emotional, relational, and physiological experience

  • The relationship between trauma, embodiment, presence, and spiritual transformation

  • Somatic approaches to increasing regulation, resilience, and connection

  • The role of ancestral influences, attachment, and relational history in shaping present experience

  • How unresolved survival energy may transform into vitality, meaning, creativity, and renewed engagement with life

  • The cultivation of internal and relational resources that support healing and integration

Participants will also be invited to reflect on the resources, strengths, resilience, and wisdom that may exist within family and ancestral lineages — not only the wounds.

The Experience

This is not a lecture-only training.

The workshop is designed as an immersive and participatory experience balancing teaching with direct exploration, reflection, and community connection.

Across the four days, the program will include:

  • Teaching dialogues with Peter and Efu

  • Live demonstrations w/ 1 SEI Faculty Credit Included

  • Guided somatic and reflective exercises

  • Small group experiential practice

  • Opportunities for self-reflection and integration

  • Group discussion and participant inquiry

  • Question-and-answer sessions

  • Book sales and signing opportunities

Participants are welcome to engage at their own pace. Personal ancestral details do not need to be shared publicly in order to participate meaningfully in the process.

Held at an intimate venue in San Diego, California, this workshop is intended to offer both depth and spaciousness — creating an environment supportive of learning, reflection, and connection.

What Participants May Gain

Participants may leave with:

  • Greater awareness of inherited survival and relational patterns

  • Increased capacity for self-regulation and embodied presence

  • A deeper understanding of intergenerational trauma and resilience

  • Expanded tools for working with trauma in therapeutic and personal settings

  • Greater connection to internal, relational, and ancestral resources

  • A renewed sense of vitality, meaning, and possibility

Rather than striving toward a particular outcome, this workshop emphasizes building capacity — allowing transformation to emerge gradually and organically through embodied experience.
