Isolating Patterns of Dysfunction and Increasing Tools for Detoxification

Introducing
Trauma Resolution with Somatic Experiencing® & Focus Unit; Photic and Audio Therapy™ Clear Mind Levine Trauma Protocol™

Peter A Levine, Ph.D. & Andreanna Rainville RN, CN

We WELCOME you to join this one-day workshop that includes didactic lecture, conversation, workshop recording, bonus material, and experiential breakout groups to practice SE with the support of SE Practitioners.

Scroll down to watch a 40-min informational video with Dr. Levine and Nurse Andi.

Online Sunday, May 23rd, 10 AM – 5 PM PDT  (detailed schedule below)

During this new workshop, Peter A Levine, Ph.D., trauma expert and the developer of Somatic Experiencing (SE™), will define and demonstrate ways to work with trauma, combining Focus Unit: Photic and Audio Therapy with basic SE principles, while Andreanna Rainville, AKA Nurse Andi, will share detox concepts and support strategies anyone can implement.

As you know, trauma can seriously impair a person’s ability to function with resilience and ease and live in the here-and-now.

Origins of trauma:

  • Trauma may result from a wide variety of stressors such as accidents, invasive medical procedures, assaults, emotional and physical abuse, neglect, oppression, natural disasters, or the corrosive stressors of ongoing fear, conflict, and chronic shaming.

  • Stress and trauma of all intensities can include a spectrum of lingering symptoms such as hypervigilance, anxiety, depression, addiction, irritability, violence, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, IBS and poor digestion, insomnia, migraines, and other stress-related conditions.

Although trauma responses can protect us in times of need, they can also linger, harming not only ourselves but our loved ones as well.

Trauma can:

  • Interfere with our nervous system's normal function, disrupting a healthy Vagal tone, and potentially interfering with healthy relationships.

  • Adversely alter our epigenetic transmission that passes onto the next generation, like our ancestors' trauma responses may have passed along.

Somatic Experiencing helps individuals create new experiences in their bodies, which contradict those of tension and overwhelming helplessness.

Focus Unit: Photic and Audio Therapy™
The Focus System improves brain function by implementing the iLs method: Brain and Body Integration through Multisensory Input.

  • The Focus System is a clinical-level intervention designed for home use, consisting of therapeutically treated music combined with fun movement activities and, when ready, cognitive challenges to further activate brain networks.

  • The program provides simultaneous multisensory input to help develop new and reinforce existing pathways governing the organization of the body and brain function.

  • Therapeutic music is delivered via iLs’ air and bone conduction headphones, providing auditory input to the brain and sensory input to the body.

  • Movement activities, customizable for all levels, provide additional sensory and motor input for body organization.

  • Cognitive activities, added later, challenge the brain to process multiple pieces of simultaneous information, which is reflective of demands required of the brain in our day-to-day world.

  • 90% of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder or Sensory Processing Disorder saw a great improvement in sensory processing and motor coordination by using the Focus System home program, in addition to increased emotional regulation. *integratedlistening.com

During this workshop, participants will learn more about the underpinnings of trauma and the NEW method designed by Clear Mind and Dr. Levine.

Clear Mind Levine Trauma Protocol™
Joining forces with Clear Mind, Dr. Levine is designing a unique program to prevent overwhelm when clients are using the iLs method. The Focus Unit: Photic and Audio Therapy intervention combined with SE principles will gently guide people through the Clear Mind Levine Trauma Protocol application.

This Workshop is not designed just for people interested in using this unit. All are WELCOME!

After, participants will be able to

  • Describe how past traumas negatively impact the quality of life, causing physical illness and emotional dysregulation

  • Define different types of trauma and learn to recognize stress and trauma symptoms within oneself and others

  • Discuss how the human body replays strong emotions and behavior associated with a trauma event, whether it is a conscious memory or not

  • Describe the neurobiological underpinnings of emotionally charged experiences

  • Compare top-down and bottom-up therapeutic processing and be aware of how they conflict and how they can work together

  • Practice the capacity to be there for clients' needs and avoid "merging"

  • Detect pattern interruptions and know how to get unstuck

  • Demonstrate tools to inhabit the body

  • Utilize SE skills to navigate intense sessions with greater resilience

  • Demonstrate how to work with physical pain: how to do a self-session

  • Explain how to regulate using the Focus Unit with the Clearmind Levine Trauma Protocol™

  • Increase body awareness and integration

  • Recognize emotional trauma and how it correlates to organ systems from Traditional Chinese Medicine

  • Utilize detoxification support

    • Drainage and binders, food-based options
